Abstract

A simple, reliable, and accurate method for measuring net positive suction head is described, difficulties which may be encountered in its application are discussed, and test information indicating its reliability and accuracy is presented. The device which embodies the method consists of a vapor-pressure bulb that measures the vapor pressure of the liquid, a pressure tap that measures stagnation pressure, and a pressure gage to indicate (and record, if desired) the difference between the two pressures.
